LOBA 2.0TFSI Mahle 124 Alloy

These have evolved from many years of experience with pistons and TFSI engines, using the latest CNC and forging technology available.

Especially made for the 2.0tfsi, there design is derived from various piston layouts and comprises amongst others, the basic layout is a so-called slipper piston, the wrist pin's shape and thickness, the arrangement of the piston rings as well as the special coating of the piston sleeves and the special concave pistion top for more efficient combustion, skirt shape, crown thickness and more have been adjusted and designed to improve performance and durability.

Our piston's material hardness is exactly defined. Our pistons undergo several heat treatment processes and are thus brought close to an ideal functionality. Therefore, our pistons are practically stressless and incorporate an optimum of material and geometry strength, fatigue limit, wear resistance and weight.

Tested to F1 speeds on a engine dyno, 25.5 meters per second, 8250rpm on 92,8mm stroke, And at over 250Nm per cylinder, these pistons are German Autobahn approved.

Alloy
AlSi 12 CuNiMg –concerning strength and abrasion resistance this alloy features the best of both characteristics. A high strength of shape is reached by many hours of multi-level thermal treatments after being cold pressed forged, the material contains a high percentage of silicium for wear resistance

Nitrated piston rings
In comparison with chromium plated rings our piston rings feature a higher hardness and better sliding qualities.

Coating
Coated bearing surfaces (piston sleeves) for better running-in characteristics and reserves under maximum load and deficient lubrication e.g. cold starting, washed off lubricating film in case of failure of the spark plug, Moreover, our coating allows less piston to bore clearance despite the piston,s complex shape reducing engine noise.

Wrist Pin
Made from premium steel, Pins we use are hard on the outside and tough in the inside to help the pin cope with the stress better of a high boost/power engine, Up to a certain extent the pin will keep its shape/reassume its original shape.
